Arabic vocabulary
How to say “she sat down” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَعَدَتْ فَقَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ حَلَفْتُ لَا تُصَدِّقُونَنِي،
She sat down and said, "By God, if I swear, you will not believe me."
فَقَعَدَتْ — so she sat down. Here fa- is sequential 'so then', moving the action forward to her sitting up, fused to a past-tense verb whose -at ending marks a feminine subject. The prefix's job is purely ordering: it stitches her sitting to the moment just narrated.
