Arabic vocabulary
How to say “states” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَاعِثُ الدِّينِ بِالإِضَافَةِ إِلَى بَاعِثِ الهَوَى لَهُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْوَالٍ
The motive of religion, together with the motive of desire, has three states.
أَحْوَالٍ — states. An indefinite plural noun in the genitive because the number 'three' before it governs it. This is the counted noun of the 'three states' phrase, and the plural genitive form is exactly what Arabic requires after the small numbers three through ten.
