Arabic vocabulary
How to say “surged” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فتحت حتى ارتجت النهر، حتى عجت الغدر،
They opened until the river roared, until the streams surged,
عَجَّتِ — they surged. A past-tense verb meaning 'roared / clamored', with a feminine subject that follows. It mirrors the earlier surging verb, so the two clauses build parallel results of the rain, and the verb stands before its subject in normal Arabic order.
