Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the colors” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَالْحَرْثَ مُخْضَرًا وَمُصْفِرًا مُخْتَلِفًا الْأَلْوَانِ وَالْأَزْهَارِ،
and the cultivated land, green and yellow, varied in its colors and flowers.
الْأَلْوَانِ — the colors. Carries al- ('the') and is the genitive complement of 'varied' before it — the respect in which the land differs, namely its colors. The plural is an irregular reshaped form. The describing word's pull is what puts it in the genitive, completing 'varied in its colors'.
