How to say “the community” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَبَرُّ مَنْ كَانَا فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بِأُمِّهِمَا
More dutiful to their mother than anyone in this community.
الْأُمَّةِ — the community. A definite feminine noun marked by al-, after the 'in' preposition, so it carries the genitive ending. With the pointer before it, the al- gives 'this very community'. It names the bounded group within which the two men stood out as the most devoted.
