Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the day” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَخَرَجَ بِهِ قَرِيبًا مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ
So he went out with him around midday.
النَّهَارِ — the day. The al- makes it definite — *the* daytime — and it closes the 'half of...' pairing in the 'of' (genitive) shape. Together with 'half' it pinpoints midday.
