Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the one led by desire” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
غَيْرُ أَنَّهُ زَيْنُهَا وَطِفْلُ الْهَوَى ذُو إِغْتِرَارٍ،
Except that he adorned it, and the one carried away by desire was full of self-deception.
وَطِفْلُ — and the one led by desire. The connector wa- ('and') fused onto a noun literally 'child', used figuratively for one ruled by something. It heads a possessive link with the next word — 'child of desire' — so it surrenders its own 'the' and forces the following noun into the genitive. The wa- starts a fresh coordinate subject.
