Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the people” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ اِذْهَبْ حَتَّى تَدْخُلَ بَيْنَ ظُهْرَانِيِ الْقَوْمِ
He said, "Go until you enter among the backs of the people."
الْقَوْمِ — the people. This definite noun is the owner half of the pair just begun, in the genitive 'of' slot, giving 'the midst of the people'. Its 'the' marks the chain as definite. Its placement right behind the head noun forms the 'of' link with no separate word.
