How to say “the sermon” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ثُمَّ أَكْمَلَ الْخُطْبَةَ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ آخِرِ آيَةٍ مِنْهَا،
Then he completed the sermon on the rhyme of its final verse.
الْخُطْبَةَ — the sermon. A definite noun 'the sermon', the object of 'completed', so it takes the object-style ending. The al- makes it definite as the address already in view. Its case marks it as the thing brought to a close.
