Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the springs” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمْ يُفَاجِئْ الْقَوْمَ لَيْلَةً بَعْدَمَا هَدَأَتْ الْعُيُونُ
So the people were not surprised that night, after the springs had settled.
الْعُيُون — the springs. A definite plural noun and the subject of the settling, so it takes the plain naming ending; its non-human-plural status is what put the feminine ending on the verb before it. It is the thing that had quieted.
