How to say “they denied” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَكَفَرُوا مَا أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ
So they denied what God had bestowed upon them.
فَكَفَرُوا — so they denied. A 'fa-' fused to a past 'they' verb, 'so they denied'. The 'fa-' here marks consequence, 'and so', turning the people's ingratitude into the upshot of all the bounty just described. The verb's '-u' is its built-in 'they', the people of Sheba, and it governs the 'what...' clause as the thing denied.
