سَمِعْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم يَقُولُ
I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
سَمِعْتُ — I heard. The '-tu' ending is the speaker 'I'; the verb is the plain past 'heard'. It takes its object directly, the one heard being named next in the accusative.
