How to say “two daughters” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وعلى عثمان الذي بابنتي رسول الله حبي،
And upon Uthman, who is my beloved by the two daughters of the Messenger of Allah.
بِٱبْنَتَيِّ — by the two daughters. The bi- marks the means or grounds, 'by way of', and the noun after it is a dual, 'the two daughters', a dedicated Arabic form for exactly two that English must spell out with the word 'two'. The bi- governs that dual into the post-preposition form.
