Arabic vocabulary
How to say “two obligations” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أمّا الجمعُ بين فريضتين فليس بجائز
As for combining two obligatory prayers, it is not permissible.
فَرِيضَتَيْنِ — two obligatory prayers. The dual ending '-ayn' folds 'exactly two' into the noun: 'two obligatory prayers,' the -ayn being the form after a preposition. No separate word for 'two' — the count rides inside the word. Joining THESE under one tayammum is what is barred.
