Arabic vocabulary
How to say “wished” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الْعَاجِزُ مَنْ أَتَّبَعَ نَفْسَهُ هَوَاهَا وَتَمَنَّى عَلَى اللَّهِ الأَمَانِيَ
The helpless one is the one who follows his own self its desire and wishes on Allah the wishes.
وَتَمَنَّى — and wished. The wa- on the front coordinates a second past-tense verb with 'follows', so the same subject does both. The conjunction joins two habitual actions of the same person, 'follows... and wishes...', sharing one doer built into the verbs.
