How to say “wishes” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الْعَاجِزُ مَنْ أَتَّبَعَ نَفْسَهُ هَوَاهَا وَتَمَنَّى عَلَى اللَّهِ الأَمَانِيَ
The helpless one is the one who follows his own self its desire and wishes on Allah the wishes.
الأَمَانِيَ — the wishes. A definite plural noun (built on an irregular, internal-change pattern) in the accusative as the direct object of 'wishes'. The accusative ending marks it as the thing wished for, so it names the false hopes the person entertains.
