By God, had you not been with Abu Sufyan, you would not have returned safely to your family.
رَجَعْتَ — you returned. A past verb with 'you' carried in its -ta ending. In the counterfactual frame its negated form reads as 'you would [not] have returned' — the unrealised outcome of the imagined situation.
