Arabic vocabulary
How to say “safely” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
أَمَا وَاللَّهِ لَوْلَا أَنَّكَ مَعَ أَبِي صَفْوَانِ مَا رَجَعْتَ إِلَى أَهْلِكَ سَالِمًا
By God, had you not been with Abu Sufyan, you would not have returned safely to your family.
سَالِمًا — safely. An object-shaped (accusative) word doing circumstantial work: it describes the *state* of the return — safe and sound. Arabic folds 'while unharmed' into this single accusative form rather than a separate clause.
From: Warning Before the Battle of Badr →وَلَكِنَّ لِيَسْتَكْمِلُوا نَصِيبَهُمْ مِنْ كَرَامَتِي سَالِمًا مُوَفِّرًا
But so that they may complete their share of my favor, safe and well provided.
سالمًا — safe. This is a descriptive word working adverbially, telling the state in which they complete their share, 'safe'. Its object-form ending is what marks it as describing the manner or condition rather than naming a thing. Arabic uses this ending to turn an adjective into a 'how' modifier.
