How to say “Zakat” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَّلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحِفْظِ زَكَاةِ رَمَضَانَ،
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, entrusted me with the safekeeping of the Zakat of Ramadan.
زَكَاةِ — Zakat of. A noun in the genitive that is at once the owned half of the pairing before it and the head of a further pairing with 'Ramadan' after it, a chain of possessives. So it both belongs to 'safekeeping' and owns 'Ramadan': 'the safekeeping of the Zakat of Ramadan'.
