How to say “Zuhayr” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ـ أُرِيَ فِي جِلْدٍ مِنَ الأَرْضِ، شَكَّ زُهَيْرُ ـ
He was seen in a layer of earth, and Zuhayr doubted.
زُهَيْرٌ — Zuhayr. This proper name is the doer of the verb just before it, with its final vowel marking it as the subject. Arabic regularly puts the verb ahead of its subject, so the action comes first and only here do we learn who performed it - the reverse of the usual English order.
