How to say “a camel” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
حَتَّى لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا سُفْيَانِ وَثَبَ عَلَى جَمَلٍ لَهُ مَعْقُولٌ
I even saw Abu Sufyan leap onto his tied camel.
جَمَلٍ — a camel. This indefinite noun is governed by 'onto', sitting in the genitive that preposition forces, and it names what he leapt on: a camel. Its indefinite ending leaves it unspecified, just some camel of his. The possessive and the participle after it further describe it.
