Arabic vocabulary
How to say “leapt” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
حَتَّى لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَبَا سُفْيَانِ وَثَبَ عَلَى جَمَلٍ لَهُ مَعْقُولٌ
I even saw Abu Sufyan leap onto his tied camel.
وَثَبَ — and leapt. The connector 'and' is fused to a past-tense verb, 'leapt', opening the clause that says what the seen man did. Here 'and' links the witnessing to the witnessed action. The 'he' doer is carried over from the named man and built into the verb.
