Arabic vocabulary
How to say “a wall” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِنْ قِيلَ لَكَ إِنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ مَعَكَ فَتَوَارَى خَلْفَ حَائِطٍ فَمَاتَ فَصَدَّقَ،
If it is said to you that a man was with you, withdrew behind a wall, and died, then believe.
حَائِطٍ — a wall. A noun, 'a wall', in the 'of' (genitive) form because the position word 'behind' governs it. It names the thing he withdrew behind. Its case is set by that locative word, not by the main verb.
