Arabic vocabulary
How to say “after it” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وكذلك الحركة بعده
Likewise, movement after it is harmful.
بَعْدَهُ — after it. This is the time-word ba'da 'after' with the attached pronoun -hu 'it' fastened to its end, so one Arabic word carries both 'after' and 'it'. The pronoun points back to the food or meal under discussion, and ba'da governs that pronoun the way a preposition does, locking it into the following position.
From: The Art of Eating Well →الحركة قبل الطعام خير كله، كما أنها بعده شر كله
Movement before food is entirely good, just as it is after it entirely evil.
بَعْدَهُ — after it. This is ba'da 'after' carrying the attached -hu 'it', one word for 'after it'. The -hu refers back to the food, and ba'da governs it into the possessed ending, mirroring the earlier 'before the food' to draw the contrast between the two timings.
From: The Art of Eating Well →فيقول إن ربي غضب اليوم غضباً لم يغضب قبله مثله، ولن يغضب بعده مثله، وإنه قد كانت لي دعوة دعوت بها على قومي،
He says, "My Lord was angry today with an anger like none before it, and none like it will be after it, and indeed there was for me a supplication which I invoked against my people,"
بَعْدَهُ — after it. A time noun meaning 'after it' with an 'it' pronoun fused on. The attached pronoun points to the anger, closing the comparison off on the future side: no anger like it will come later.
From: The Prophet's Intercession →فيقول عيسى إن ربي غضب اليوم غضباً لم يغضب قبله مثله، ولن يغضب بعده مثله ولم يذكر ذنباً،
Then Jesus will say, "My Lord was angry today with an anger like none before it, and none like it will be after it, and he did not mention any sin."
بِعَدِّهِ — after it. A time-noun with an attached '-hi' for 'after it', the suffix tied to the singular anger; the form marks a point in time. It seals off the future to match 'before it'.
