وَحُكِيَ عَنْ الْجُنَيْدِ رَحْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ
And it was narrated about al-Junayd, may God have mercy upon him, that he said:
الْجُنَيْد — al-Junayd. A proper name made definite by 'al-' as part of the name itself, here in the genitive because the preceding preposition governs it. It identifies whom the report concerns. Its case is set by the preposition, not by any role in the sentence's action.
