How to say “al‑Khudri (tribal/nisba name)” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدِ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ
It was narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said:
الْخُدْرِيِّ — al-Khudri. A relation-adjective (a 'belonging to X' form) made definite by 'al-', tagging the man by his origin or tribe. It stands in apposition to the name and copies its genitive case, since Arabic adjectives match the case of what they describe. It rounds out the full identification of the narrator.
