Arabic vocabulary
How to say “and they understood it” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَامُوا يَنْقُلُونَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مَا سَمِعُوهُ وَوَعَوُوهُ،
They then began transmitting from the Messenger of God what they had heard and understood.
ووعوه — and they understood it. 'Wa-' coordinates this verb with 'heard', placing the two actions in parallel. The verb is past with a 'they' subject and an attached '-hu' = 'it' object referring to the same 'what'; so the soundness of the report rests on both hearing and grasping it.
