Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they began” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَامُوا يَنْقُلُونَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مَا سَمِعُوهُ وَوَعَوُوهُ،
They then began transmitting from the Messenger of God what they had heard and understood.
فَقَامُوا — they then began. 'Fa-' here marks immediate sequence, 'and then', launching the next narrative beat. The verb is past tense with a plural 'they' subject built into its ending; its sense is inceptive ('they set about'), and it leads into a second verb describing what they began doing.
