Arabic vocabulary
How to say “around the House” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ لِأُمْيَّةَ اِنْظُرْ لِيَّ سَاعَةَ خَلْوَةِ لَعَلَّيَ أَنْ أَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ
He said to Umayya, "Find for me a time of seclusion; perhaps I may circumambulate the House."
بِالْبَيْتِ — around the House. The bi- here ties the circling to its object — going around *it* — and the al- makes that object definite. The bi- also forces the noun into the 'of' (genitive) shape; together they name the sacred House circled.
