How to say “Umayya” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ لِأُمْيَّةَ اِنْظُرْ لِيَّ سَاعَةَ خَلْوَةِ لَعَلَّيَ أَنْ أَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ
He said to Umayya, "Find for me a time of seclusion; perhaps I may circumambulate the House."
لأُمَيَّةَ — to Umayya. A 'to' particle of address fused with a proper name; it marks the person spoken *to* and pulls the name into the 'of' (genitive) shape. So it identifies the addressee of the request.
