فَقَالَ لِأُمْيَّةَ اِنْظُرْ لِيَّ سَاعَةَ خَلْوَةِ لَعَلَّيَ أَنْ أَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ
He said to Umayya, "Find for me a time of seclusion; perhaps I may circumambulate the House."
لَعَلِّي — perhaps I may. A particle of hope, 'perhaps', carrying an attached -i 'I' as the one hoping. It softens the following verb from a flat statement into a wished-for possibility — 'maybe I might...'.
