How to say “attained” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وقوله لسُراقة أخفِ عنا فالتوكل الممدوح لا يُنال بفعل محذور،
And his saying to Suraqa, 'Conceal us,' as commendable trust in God is not achieved by committing forbidden acts,
يُنَالُ — is achieved. This is the passive of the verb in the present, 'is attained', with the doer unnamed and the negator before it: 'is not attained'. Arabic marks the passive by reshaping the verb's inner vowels rather than adding a helper.
