How to say “bad” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ليؤكل في الصيف البارد، وفي الشتاء الحار إدخال طعام على طعام آخر رديء
Cold foods should be eaten in the summer, and hot foods in the winter; introducing food upon another food is bad.
رَدِيءٌ — bad. This is the predicate of the verbless judgment, 'is bad', describing the act of piling food on food. Arabic states 'X is bad' with no word for 'is', and the -un ending marks it as an indefinite description of the subject.
