Arabic vocabulary
How to say “because they” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِأَنَّهُمْ عَايَشُوا الْوَحْيَ وَعَاصَرُوا التَّنْزِيلَ وَوَقَعَتِ الْحَوَادِثُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ،
Because they lived through the revelation, witnessed its descent, and the events took place before them,
لِأَنَّهُمْ — because they. A causal subordinator 'because', built from 'li-' plus the heavy 'anna', here with '-hum' = 'they' attached as its subject. It opens a reason-clause and, in fusing the pronoun on, names 'they' as the subject of the explanation that follows.
