How to say “they lived through” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِأَنَّهُمْ عَايَشُوا الْوَحْيَ وَعَاصَرُوا التَّنْزِيلَ وَوَقَعَتِ الْحَوَادِثُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ،
Because they lived through the revelation, witnessed its descent, and the events took place before them,
عَايَشُوا — they lived through. A past verb in the 'live through alongside' pattern, with a built-in plural 'they' subject. It carries a mutual/coexistence shading, framing the group not merely as living but as living contemporaneously with the revelation named next.
