Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the descent” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِأَنَّهُمْ عَايَشُوا الْوَحْيَ وَعَاصَرُوا التَّنْزِيلَ وَوَقَعَتِ الْحَوَادِثُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ،
Because they lived through the revelation, witnessed its descent, and the events took place before them,
التَّنْزِيلَ — the descent. The definite direct object of 'were contemporaries with', hence accusative. With 'al-' it names the specific descent (the sending-down of revelation) that the group witnessed firsthand.
