How to say “the revelation” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِأَنَّهُمْ عَايَشُوا الْوَحْيَ وَعَاصَرُوا التَّنْزِيلَ وَوَقَعَتِ الْحَوَادِثُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ،
Because they lived through the revelation, witnessed its descent, and the events took place before them,
الْوَحْيَ — the revelation. The definite direct object of 'lived through', so it stands in the accusative. With 'al-' it is the specific revelation in question; it receives the action of the verb directly with no relator between them.
