How to say “bite” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فنهس منها نهسة وقال أنا سيد الناس يوم القيامة،
He took a bite from it and said, "I am the leader of the people on the Day of Resurrection."
نَهْسَةً — a bite. An indefinite noun in the accusative that counts the action: it specifies one instance of biting, the way English might say 'a single bite'. This accusative noun echoing the verb's own root is how Arabic pins down how much or how many times the action happened.
