Arabic vocabulary
How to say “burden” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الحمد لله الذي لا يجد الهارب منه وزرًا ولا معاذا،
Praise be to Allah, from whom the fugitive cannot find refuge nor escape.
وَزَرًا — refuge. This is wa- prefixed onto the object of 'finds', and its -an ending marks it as an indefinite object, 'a refuge'. That ending is Arabic's regular tag for the indefinite thing an action reaches, here denied to the fugitive.
