Arabic vocabulary
How to say “burdens” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَدْ تَحَمَّلَتْ الْأُمُّ بِحِمْلِهِ أَثْقَالًا كَثِيرَةً،
Indeed, the mother bore many heavy burdens in carrying him.
أثقالًا — burdens. This is the object the verb 'bore' acted upon, and its open -an ending plus tanwin mark it as an indefinite plural in the object case, 'burdens'. Arabic flags the direct object with this -a vowel, and the tanwin keeps it general, not a specific set. The adjective that follows will describe it.
