Arabic vocabulary
How to say “companions” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
انطلق رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأصحابه حتى سبقوا المشركين إلى بدر وجاء المشركون،
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his companions set out until they reached Badr before the polytheists, and the polytheists came.
وأَصْحابُهُ — and his companions. This is wa- (and) on 'companions' carrying 'his', 'and his companions', a second subject joined to the Messenger as those who set out with him. The plural is in the noun's shape and the suffix points back to the Prophet; the wa- ties the two subjects together.
