انطلق رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأصحابه حتى سبقوا المشركين إلى بدر وجاء المشركون،
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his companions set out until they reached Badr before the polytheists, and the polytheists came.
اِنطَلَقَ — set out. A past-tense verb, 'he set out', with 'he' built into the form, opening the narrative. The reflexive pattern gives the sense of setting off; the doer is named right after, the verb leading its subject in normal Arabic order.
