How to say “curiosity” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
احفظ لسانك من الفضول، وعينك من التشتت، ويدك من العبث، فإن الجوارح أبواب القلب، وما يدخلها يستوطن سريرته
Guard your tongue from curiosity, your eyes from distraction, and your hands from trifling, for the senses are gateways to the heart, and what enters them takes root in its core.
الفُضُولِ — curiosity. 'al-' = 'the'; 'fudul' = 'meddling, idle curiosity'; takes the 'from...' ending.

Set a specific intention as your compass needle, then let your small deeds revolve around it: a mindful ablution, a glance turned away from curiosity, a restrained word from harm, a smile that steadies a weak heart.
فُضُولٍ — curiosity. 'fudul' = 'idle curiosity'; takes the 'from...' ending after 'an'.
From: On Sincerity →فَإِذَا تُرِكَ وَسُلْطَانَهُ أَسَرَ فُضُولَ الْهَوَى
So when it is left to its authority, it captures the excess of desire.
فُضُولَ — excessive. First half of an 'of' phrase: 'the excess of...'; object (accusative).
From: Intellect and Faith →فإياكم وفضول المطعم، فإنه يسم القلب بالقسوة، ويبطئ بالجوارح عن الطاعة، ويصم الأذان عن السماع للموعظة،
Beware of excess in food, for it marks the heart with hardness, slows the limbs from obedience, and deafens the ears from hearing admonition.
فَإِنَّهُ — for indeed it. The 'fa-' gives the reason, and the rest is the emphasis-particle 'inna' fused with the attached 'it'. 'Inna' adds a firm 'indeed' to the statement and puts its following pronoun-subject in the object form; the pronoun refers back to the excess just warned against.
