How to say “decline” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بينا هي في صعود الزيادة إذا صاحبها إلى القبر في انحدار،
While it is in the ascent of increase, suddenly its owner heads to the grave in decline,
انْحِدَارٍ — decline. In the genitive because 'in' governs it, this indefinite noun names the downward state. Its bare, unspecified ending paints decline as a general direction, completing the line's contrast between the herd climbing and its owner sinking.
