How to say “destruction/ruin” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وتجئ الفتنة فيقول المؤمن هذه مهلكتي، ثم تنكشف؛
And a trial will come, and the believer will say: 'This is my destruction,' then it will pass;
مُهْلِكَتِي — my destruction. This is a place-of-destruction noun with 'my' attached, 'my ruin', formed on a pattern that names where or how something happens. It is the predicate the believer equates 'this' with, in a verbless 'this is my ruin' statement that needs no word for 'is'.
