How to say “devoid” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وأما عملك فغير صالح، وأما تلاوتك فثقيلة عرية عن الخشية والحزن والخوف
As for your deeds, they are not righteous, and your recitation is heavy, devoid of fear, sorrow, and apprehension.
عَرِيَةٌ — devoid. This adjective, devoid, stands in apposition to the previous predicate, adding a second description of the recitation, and matches it in nominative. It expects a 'from' phrase naming what the recitation is empty of.
