Know that unchecked desire calls towards immediate pleasure without considering the consequences.
غَيْرِ — without. Literally 'other-than'; joined to the 'from' before it, the two together carry 'without'. It heads a possessive pair with the next noun and sits in the genitive.

2 - And among them are those who aim for good, and cite an Ayah without clear evidence for what they claim.
غَيْرِ — without. The second half of 'without.' Here, unusually, it heads not a noun but a whole 'that'-clause ('that evidence appear to him'), so 'without' stretches over a clause: without it ever becoming clear to him.
