Arabic vocabulary
How to say “divine law” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ وَرَقَةُ هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُوسَى،
Waraqah said, "This is the law that was revealed to Moses."
ٱلْنَّامُوسُ — the law. The al- on the front makes this a specific, known thing, 'the law', and the -u ending marks it as the completer of the verbless 'this is ...' sentence. The doubled n you hear is the article fully blending into the noun's first letter, a sound-rule, not a separate mark.
