وَيَصِفُهَا فِي بَيَانٍ رَائِعٍ فِي رِحْلَتِهِ الْمَشْهُورَةِ،
And he describes it in a splendid account in his famous journey,
الْمَشْهُورَةِ — famous. A definite adjective ('famous') modifying 'his journey'. It agrees in gender, the genitive case, and definiteness (it carries al-). Even though the noun was made definite by a possessor rather than al-, the adjective still takes al- to match it.
