And Abu al-Darda said, 'Indeed, I refresh myself with some idle talk, fearing that I might burden it with so much truth that it becomes weary.'
كَرَاهِيَةً — fearing. An accusative -an of cause, 'out of dislike / for fear that'; this object-style ending is how Arabic attaches the reason or motive for an action to the verb. It explains why he indulges in idle talk.
